Is it a green linear quilted star galaxy exploding out or white outer space imploding with circular quilting designs, spiralling in? Splashes of green in clusters of 5 scattered throughout. Binding is actually pieced, hand sewn to quilt top then quilted on my domestic machine.
Feathered 5iever is my fifth Feathered Star quilt and while still within the realms of a traditional quilt, I have tried to make it more contemporary by using only “Kona Cotton Solid” fabrics. I found this very difficult as I like the texture printed fabrics provide. So this time I had to provide the texture with the quilting. The large orb was drawn freehand onto the top with an air erasable marker then quilted free hand. Fortunately, I had stencils I could use for the spirals and some of the background grids. I then quilted it so that the Orb contained angular shapes as it encompassed all the green spinning stars. The background stars are all round shaped quilting. The centre exploding background star points are quilted in the ripple wave as the points float to the outside.
